The Andre Fabre trained Getaway was as big as 49/1 to win the Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe but is now back into as little as eights thanks to an impressive win in the group one Luciene Barriere Grand Prix de Deauville last time out.

After finishing fifth in two group one contests in June the five-year-old lost his early favourites tag for Europe’s premier flat race but returned to the form which saw him claim the Jockey Club Stakes in an impressive manner back in May. Connections will be hoping he can repeat the performance and improve on his fourth place in ‘the Arc’ last season.

Alain De Royer-Dupre’s Zarkava is the current Ante-post favourite for the 2008 renewal. The three-year-old filly is undefeated in five starts including two group one victories one of which came at Longchamp, the venue for the Arc. In fact the first four wins for this highly talented lady came at the Paris circuit so its fair to say that the course suits.

Next in the betting come the Aiden O’Brein pair of Soldier of Fortune and Duke of Marmalade. The former has had two runs since finishing fifth in the 2007 version of the race – the first was his Coronation Cup win.

Duke of Marmalade on the other hand is one of the season’s star animals this season after claiming five group one’s from five starts this season including a title at Longchamp at the beginning of the season and 11/2 is a good value bet.
