As always one of October’s jewel’s in the racing crown, The Cambridgeshire, looks to be wide open.

Early ante-port favourite is Luca Cumani’s Swop. The lightly raced five-year-old is generally available at 10/1 after his five starts have all ended in at least a place. One of those was a good looking third in a similar contest at Sandown last time out with observers noting he is likely to improve from that run and he is also well treated by the handicapper.
He’s joined at the top of the market by two others; stable mate Ask The Butler, who won that Sandown encounter, and Sir Mark Presocott’s Master Of Arts.
The Prescott runner is unbeaten in six outings now but the Cambridgeshire represents a step up in class for the gelding.
Ask the Butler, as we’ve mentioned, is already a winner at this standard but concedes weight to both his main rivals.
Also in the running and well fancied is three-year-old Perks. John Dunlop’s charge won a race of similar quality, over slightly further on heavy ground so at least connections won’t be worrying about stamina. Could do with going conditions to remain on the easy side if he is to really challenge.
The Khalid Abdulla owned Fifteen Love has been given a decent each-way shout. The worry is that the colt, defeated in a Turkish Group two race recently, will have to give the others too much weight.
Finally there’s been a little money for Indian Days who is a consistent sort and heritage handicap winner.
